Of course, we all know that the US Department of Justice (DoJ) shut down several poker websites on April 15 – including Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars and Absolute Poker – but Full Tilt’s Canadian customers may well also be dragged into the mess after the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC) decision to review the website’s Secondary Client Provider Authorisation as they try to establish whether the company’s licence will be continued.
Additionally, the Quebec Poker Tournament League (LTPQ) has been shelved for now because of a looming legal action brought to the attention of Canada’s Superior Court following a dispute between the LTPQ and Loto-Québec over alleged missing sponsorship and service payments from the state-run authority.
With such worrying news for Canadian poker players, HeadsUp – the company behind the Canadian Poker Tour (CPT) and the Canadian Poker Player Television Network, as well as almost anything else you can think of related to poker in the North American country – has moved to press home the benefits of live poker.
