A healthy live poker and gaming scene, proposals to expand current casinos, and a neighboring state which has recently regulated online poker itself: everything seems to be pointing toward Maryland passing pro-poker legislation soon. The online poker MD scene is already thriving, but a state-regulated one could make things more interesting.
Maryland's neighbor Delaware has already forged ahead with regulated online poker of its own, and state lawmakers may not want to continue siphoning off business to go over the border. In the next few months, legal poker sites in Maryland could become the norm.

Andrew Brokos is a professional poker player, writer, and coach.
In addition to offering private poker coaching, Andrew is currently the Host of the ThinkingPoker Podcast, a instructor with both RedChipPoker and Tournament Poker Edge, and writes regularly for Two Plus Two Magazine. Andrew has been playing poker professionally since 2005. He currently splits his playing time between live cash games and major live tournaments, with a few online tournaments series mixed in for good measure.
One of his most notable poker accomplishments is cashing five times in seven years at the World Series of Poker Main Event, including three finishes in the top 100. Other prominent finishes include victory in a $2000 2-day NLHE Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) event and third in a $500 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP).
Andrew began his poker career as an online regular, grinding sit-and-gos (SNGs) and multi-table tournaments (MTTs) in the early 2000s. He eventually gravitated towards online cash games, as well as major live tournaments. Outside of Poker
In addition to being a poker pro and writer, Andrew is a non-profit leader. After working with the Chicago Urban Debate League and the National Association of Urban Debate Leagues (NAUDL) during college, Andrew founded the Boston Debate League in 2006 to bring competitive policy debate to Boston Public Schools students. Today the BDL is thriving, and operating with a budget Andrew could only dream of back when he founded the league on a shoestring budget fed by early poker wins! In 2015 while living in San Francisco, Andrew joined the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Urban Debate League.
Away from work pursuits, Andrew enjoys reading and writing fiction, playing games, and exploring the outdoors. Andrew grew up in the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland and graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in Philosophy.
